The conclusion of The Discussion

Those group who accepted the formulation arguing that indonesia is not a theocratic nor a secular country, but based on Pancasila that is why the state has the right to arrange religion education in national education system. However, the challenging groups argue this proposition is a sublimation of the jakarta Charter to re-enter the constitution, which is already rejected in the subsequent amandements.

Now I come to the conclusion which might he the substance of our discussion this afternoon

1. Indonesia is a state with the biggest Moslem population in the world. The majority of the Moslem population is moderate.

2. There is a close relation between politics and education in the colonial period as well as in the post colonial period

3. The relation between power and education is manifested in the process of formulating the new law on education.

4. Education is part of the political life. Meaning that education cannot be understood as only a process of learning or schooling but is part of whole cultural process.
